KULIM (KEDAH), 27 September 2011 The industrial town of Kulim in the northern state of Kedah, famed for its Kulim Hi-Tech Park, today celebrates the opening of the 10th and latest Tune Hotel in Malaysia. Tune Hotel Kulim is the first branded hotel chain for Kedah’s third largest town.
The opening of Tune Hotel Kulim brings its worldwide network to 13 hotels including two in Bali, Indonesia and one in London, England. The new Tune Hotel presents an additional 50 rooms comprising 32 doubles, 17 twins and a wheelchair-friendly room to the network.
Tune Hotel Kulim was officially opened by the Yang Dipertua of Kulim Municipal Council, Haji Mohd Zohdi Haji Saad. Also present was Tune Hotels Group CEO Mark Lankester.
In his speech, Haji Mohd Zohdi said: Kulim is very delighted to welcome Tune Hotels. The opening of Tune Hotel Kulim is very much anticipated and we hope it will help us to further develop the travel and tourism sector not only in Kulim but in Kedah and the northern region in general. Many people may know Kulim for the Kulim Hi-Tech Park but in reality Kulim and its surrounding areas have so much more to offer. It has great development potentials due to its vicinity to Penang and the North-South and East-West Highway networks.
Tune Hotel Kulim is located right next to Kulim’s premier shopping complex, the Landmark Central, providing guests easy access to shopping, dining and entertainment. It is midway between Kulim old town and its new town centre, and a short drive from the renowned Kulim Hi-Tech Park that houses some of the biggest international manufacturing and R&D facilities.
Tune Hotels Group CEO Mark Lankester said: This is our second hotel in the northern region after Downtown Penang, and our very first in the state of Kedah. We are very proud to be here and we look forward to actively participating in the local travel and tourism scene. We have always said that within Malaysia we want to provide the most complete coverage for travellers and businesses and the opening of Tune Hotel Kulim is a further step in that direction. We look forward to serving the needs of particularly business travelers to Kulim that is home to one of Asia premier business parks. Tune Hotel Kulim acts as a satellite to our hugely popular Tune Hotel Downtown Penang and I am sure our guests will find Tune Hotel Kulim a great alternative option.
Tune Hotels has successfully pioneered a branded value hotel brand with the concept of pay-as-you-use that has become hugely popular amongst travelers from across the world. Under the concept, guests only pay for room rates with the option of adding on other amenities like towels & toiletries, air-conditioning, in-room wifi and satellite tv service at selected hotels.
With the latest addition of Kulim, Tune Hotels currently has 13 hotels located in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, KLIA-LCCT Airport, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Damansara, Bintulu, Kota Bharu and Kulim in Malaysia; Kuta and Legian in Bali, Indonesia; and London Westminster in the UK.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the recent Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations, Tune Hotels is currently running a special promotion with rooms in Malaysia, including Kulim, on offer from as low as RM1 per night while those in Bali Indonesia RP10.000 per night. The promotional rates are available on a first come, first served basis, for stay period from 1 June 2012 – 31 August 2012. Booking ends this Friday, 30 September 2011. The promotion is only valid for online booking at www.tunehotels.com and does not include Tune Hotels at KLIA-LCCT Airport in Sepang and Westminster, London.
By adding more rooms to its network, Tune Hotels has significantly improved its operational efficiency and thus decided to cease administration fee that it previously charged for each booking, since January this year. Guests enjoy even more savings of 20% when pre-book Comfort Package that includes towels, toiletries and air conditioning credits online. Selected hotels are offering the Plus Package that bundles television and in-room wifi, representing 30% savings for online booking.
Lankester also noted that about 30 new Tune Hotels will be opening in the next 15 months. I would like to encourage guests to stay connected with Tune Hotels via our Facebook page to keep tab of the latest openings and promotions. More Tune Hotels are scheduled for opening in the UK, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, India and Australia, that will give our guests even more options for travel destinations and it’s going to be really exciting.
Its popularity and high service quality have earned Tune Hotels numerous accolades. It was recently named among Top 20 Most Innovative Brands in Indonesia by MIX magazine, the countryâ leading marketing communication publication. Standing at number nine, Tune Hotels was the only hotel brand on the list.
